How often should I mow my lawn? At what height should it be cut?

Each lawn is different for various reasons such as turf type, soil content, or if there is an irrigation system, but we recommended to keep it at a height between 2 ½ - 3 ¾ inches.

Why do skunks keep digging up my yard?

Chances are your lawn has a grub problem. If you request grub control application(s), it will reduce the number of grubs and the skunks will move out of the area. Sometimes this can take an extended period of time to see results.

When and how much should I be watering my plants?

Morning and evening watering is the best, when the sun is not directly on the plants. Each plant/soil will absorb water differently. If the soil feels dry, the plant is probably thirsty.

When should you trim your trees/plants?

All plants/trees are different. We recommend that you search for the best pruning practices for the desired trees/plants in your region.

When should you fertilize your yard? Is fertilizer important?

Fertilizing in the fall is best for only one application, but if you’re looking for multiple applications; a spring application, and even a mid-summer application for optimal lawn nutrition will keep your lawn in great shape. Fertilizer is very important to keep your lawn healthy and HAPPY.

How do I control weeds?

The best way to control weeds is to spray a post-emergent herbicide to keep your lawn healthy and weed free. We recommend a spring and fall application.

How often should I sharpen my mower blades?

Mower blades should be sharpened when edges start to round or when your grass edges become uneven. A good rule of thumb is to check the mower blades before each mow.

Should I aerate my lawn?

Lawn aeration is something that not a lot of people do, but it is very beneficial. When you aerate your lawn, it allows it to breathe and allows nutrients and water to better reach the root systems.

Does Esch Landscaping deliver or load material?

Unfortunately, we do not. Currently, we are working hard to deliver product to our contracted clients and with our current operation and schedule, we do not have the equipment or an operator in the yard to deliver or load product.

Does Esch Landscaping have a tree spade to move trees?

No, we sold our Tree Spade in 2018 and no longer move large trees. However, as part of our services that we provide, we do handle all aspects of many size projects, including moving large trees.

Does Esch Landscaping sell retail?

Unfortunately, we no longer sell retail to the public. Similar to a previous question, our team is working hard to deliver product and designs for our contracted clients and in 2008 we made the decision to move our operation away from retail.
