As a landscape design-build company, Esch Landscaping gets involved with a vast variety of projects such as shoreline restoration, landscape plantings, and outdoor living environments such as lakeside patios with fireplaces and sitting walls. A recent project we tackled was a large paver driveway renovation where the existing driveway was old, tired, and frankly, not as functional as the client would have liked.
Creating memorable experiences for our clients is what Esch Landscaping strives for, and this project provided us a unique scope of work. We were asked to take a dark, unusable space and create something special to extend their living space while avoiding the bugs!
The Hidden Courtyard was the 2015 MNLA Industry Award for Commercial Landscape Design and Installation. This project is a true example of an extreme makeover! The existing conditions were very dilapidated and the goal was to create a unique and inviting office entry.
The Roadside Cottage Cove project won the Michigan Landscape Association Award for Residential Landscape Design & Installation in 2016. This was one of the most meaningful and inspiring projects Esch has completed. It was a strong reminder of why we are in this industry and why we value our clients like we do.
The winter of 2019 went down in the record books as one of the most devastating storms in Lake Huron’s recorded history. Although this project luckily was left with its sea wall intact, there was a devasting and costly amount of damage. But what made this project special is how Esch Landscaping took a discouraging situation for the client and turned it into something that was even more breathtaking than the landscape that existed prior to the storm.
The lakeshore is not only beautiful it’s ever-changing. There are a number of natural processes that affect our coast including lake level responses to weather and climate, storms and storm surges, ice on the shore, and local water currents to name a few. With the recent high water levels, some shoreline property owners are experiencing major challenges with shoreline erosion, and in more extreme cases real emergencies.
